The Credit Union Difference
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives, whose earnings are paid back to members in the form of higher savings rates and lower loan rates. Banks are for-profit corporations, with declared earnings paid to stockholders only.
MEMBER-OWNED
Credit unions are economic democracy. Each credit union member has equal ownership and one vote — regardless of how much money a member has on deposit. At our credit union, every customer is both a member and an owner.
NOT-FOR-PROFIT
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives. We exist to serve our members, not to make a profit. Earnings are returned to our members in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest on deposits, and lower fees.

Sisseton Wahpeton Federal Credit Union is a credit union providing services to those members and employees of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux tribe, employees of area schools, Indian Health Service and bureau of Indian Affairs, Members of organizations of the above.
